Harry Potter books: 'witches' and 'witchcraft'
Are all witches created equal?
There is general confusion in over the meanings of certain religious terms. Words such as Christian, cult, hell, heaven, occult, salvation, Witch, Witchcraft, Unitarian, Universalist, Voodoo, etc., have varied meanings to different people. Unfortunately, most people do not know this, and naturally assume that the meaning that they have been taught is the universal definition of the term. Religious terminology is often quite ambiguous, unlike words in other fields, such as medicine, science and engineering.

Christian AND Wiccan
Can a person be both?
It is quite possible for a person to follow a syncretistic religion -- a faith involving elements from two or more religions. For example, a person could be a Christian and yet incorporate certain beliefs and practices of Wicca. They could worship the Christian god, while believing in the resurrection of Jesus, virgin birth, second coming and other historical Christian teachings. They could integrate this with important elements of Wicca: respecting nature, caring about the environment, celebrating at solstices, equinoxes, harvest festivals, etc......but......

Pagans and paganism: Past and Present
Pagans and Paganism
Pagan is the broad term used to describe any religion or belief that is not Christian, Jewish or Muslim. Paganism can be traced back to Neolithic times and survived up until the middle ages when Christianity became powerful enough to erase it from existence. Paganism is an earth based religion which lays emphasis on the worship of all aspects of nature. Paganism appeared very early on in the history of the world. Examples of early paganism, can be seen in ancient Greek and Roman religions, as well as in ancient Goddess worship and Druidic religions.

for Wiccan/Pagan Clergy
Thus spoke She who is the guardian of the heart, the speaker of the words of life, singer of Earth and Time, dancer of wholeness, she who weaves breath: "As My priestess, you are charged with the care of hearts and the guardianship of life-roads. To you I give the gift of the steady foot, to walk the path of life with those who ask you to accompany them. I give the gift of legs strong enough for the journey, and wise enough to know when to sit down and talk with your fellow journeyers, and when to halt and suggest that they reconsider their way, asking one another, their own hearts and the path itself for direction."
